On the golden shores of Maui, under a setting sun and the gentle sound of ocean waves, I had the privilege of capturing something truly timeless—a multi-generational family photoshoot filled with love, laughter, and legacy.

 

Meet the Montonye Family: A Bond Built Over Generations

 

Carol and Michael, married for nearly 33 years, gathered their family on the beaches of Maui to celebrate life, love, and a very special milestone—Taylor, their daughter, is 5 months pregnant, expecting the family’s very first grandchild.

The family included:

 

Carol (56) & Michael (58) – Retired first responders, now living a new chapter of life with gratitude and joy

Carol’s mom Pam (83), the family matriarch

Their daughters: Allison (29), Taylor (28), and Lauren (24), along with their husbands and partners

And yes—baby-to-be made their debut in bump-form 🌺

 

This wasn’t just a photoshoot. It was a celebration of where they’ve been, and the beautiful road ahead.

 

A Maui Photoshoot That Captures More Than Smiles

 

As a Maui family photographer, my favorite part of sessions like this is witnessing the dynamic energy between family members—especially when it’s loud, playful, and full of love. This family didn’t hold back their laughter or joy. Everyone showed up ready to make memories, not just photos.

 

Carol and her daughters wore coordinated blues and whites, inspired by one of my beach photos they saw on Instagram. With the Pacific behind them and their legacy in front of the lens, we created a mix of posed group shots and relaxed, candid moments—just the way they wanted it.

 

We even captured that special generational moment: Pam, Carol, and her three daughters, together in one powerful image.

 

No-Frills, Just Family Fun (and Sunset Perfection)

 

There was no need for dramatic poses or props. They weren’t looking for anything over-the-top. Just beautiful beach photography in Maui that reflected who they are—close-knit, down-to-earth, and deeply connected.

 

Carol made one thing clear before we started: “We’re a little loud—but we’re good at posing!” 😄 And she was right. The girls, who all attended Arizona State and shared the same sorority, knew how to strike a pose and enjoy the moment.

And while there were a few “must-have” shots (like the Christmas card photo minus Justin 😅), we kept things light, fun, and fast—knowing the Maui sunset doesn’t wait!

 

Why This Session Matters

 

In 20 years, when the grandkids are grown and the photos have become heirlooms, this family will look back and remember the love, the laughter, the shared history, and the joy of being together on one magical evening in Maui.
