Capturing a Family’s Love Story in Paradise

As a Maui family photographer, I have the incredible privilege of meeting families from all over the world who come to our island to celebrate love, connection, and adventure. Recently, I had the joy of photographing Abbey and Chandler, an engaged couple visiting from Indianapolis, Indiana, along with their adorable one-year-old son Ellis, Abbey’s sister Maggie, and their mom Karen.

This session was so much more than just a photoshoot—it was a story of love, new beginnings, and the special bond that brings families together.

 

A Family Trip to Remember 

For Abbey and Chandler, Maui isn’t just a vacation spot—it’s their favorite place in the world. They first visited in 2023 and instantly fell in love with the island’s beauty and spirit. Coming back this year felt like a homecoming, a chance to capture this special chapter of their lives before their wedding in September.

Their group was full of energy and heart. Maggie, the 19-year-old soon-to-be college tennis player at Marion University, brought bright smiles and excitement for her senior photos. Karen, their mom, added a beautiful touch of generational love, joining in for a few sweet moments with her children and grandson.

And little Ellis? He completely stole the show.

 

 

Ellis: The Happiest Little Explorer

Every great family session has a star, and Ellis was definitely ours. Just one year old, curious, and full of personality, he loves dancing to Rihanna songs and can’t get enough of Baby Shark. During the session, he wiggled, giggled, and explored everything around him—crawling toward the waves, clapping his hands, and melting hearts with that sunshine smile.

As a Maui candid photographer, these are the moments I live for—the unposed, authentic bursts of joy that tell the real story of a family.

 

 

Love, Laughter, and Sandy Toes

Abbey and Chandler wanted a mix of engagement photos and family portraits, with a focus on candid, romantic, and lighthearted moments. We shot along one of Maui’s golden beaches, where the soft breeze and pastel sky made the perfect backdrop for their love story.

We captured everything from intimate engagement shots—highlighting Abbey’s beautiful ring and the couple’s undeniable chemistry—to playful family photos filled with laughter, tickles, and tiny sandy footprints.

They were up for anything—running along the shoreline, getting a little wet, and even doing some adventurous poses like piggyback rides and barefoot twirls in the sand. The result? A collection of images that radiate pure joy and love.
