First of all, just know that your shoot is going to be awesome--don’t worry about that part! 99% of the time, the first ten minutes can feel a little awkward. But as time goes on, you’ll begin to relax and build confidence in front of the camera. I’ll always prompt you, direct you and never ask you to do something that feels wrong or weird or leave you hanging. By the end of the session you'll be totally into it, I promise. Besides, the objective isn’t just to take pretty pictures, it’s to preserve how a moment feels.
Here are some key things that contribute to the perfect photoshoot:
- Find your chill. There’s nothing worse than arriving at a shoot feeling rushed and frazzled. If you’re able to take a few hours to relax, unwind, and do what you love on the morning of or the day before, give that gift to yourself. Allow lots of time to get to the location so you don’t feel stressed when you get there.
- You should look and feel like yourself, so choose something from your closet that you know you feel great in. Being comfortable is everything. Avoid big patterns, logos, or bright colors. Aim for earthy tones, natural fabrics, beautiful textures, and clothing that moves with you.
- Have zero expectations. I’ll be right there with you embracing whatever comes our way--the wind, the rain, the laughter, the tears. It’s all about YOU and capturing your life exactly how it is on the day of your shoot. Every shoot is unique, so the promise is spontaneity and magic--not guarantees and checklists.
Logistical things:
- I'll get in touch a few days prior to confirm the location and meeting time as well as answer any unaddressed questions you may have about outfits, timelines, etc.
- I'll meet you at location. I'll be the guy with the camera bag!
- I'll send you some sneak peaks 48 hours after your session via text and the full gallery within three weeks via a downloadable web gallery.

I'm Mark. I've lived on Maui since I was 7 years old. My wife and I have built our life here together, running a fitness gym on the island. She's also a retired Hawaiian Airlines flight attendant with 25 years of service and has called Maui home for over 25 years herself.
